*ATTENTION* Please be advised that due to Governor's Baker's emergency declaration made on March 20, 2020, and due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, all smoke detector and carbon monoxide inspections are deferred for up to ninety (90) days after the State of Emergency has been lifted. RESIDENTIAL BUYERS AND SELLERS ARE ADVISED THAT AN APPLICATION TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR INSPECTION/CERTIFICATE IS STILL REQUIRED. The mission of the Chelmsford Fire Department Fire Prevention Office is to help ensure a community that is free from fire hazards through a combination of education, inspections, and enforcement actions. The Fire Prevention Office works cooperatively with residents and other stakeholders in order to create an environment where fire safety is a primary concern for all. The fire prevention office is the permitting authority for flammable and combustible materials storage and sprinkler and fire alarm plan reviews among other items
