My name is Kate Nielsen and I am a senior at the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. As a Chelmsford native and someone who has always been interested in politics. I felt like the CLERK Internship would be an amazing opportunity to learn more about the intricacies of local government. It gave me the chance to see just how much effort is put into it, especially at the Clerk’s Office!
I began by working the spring Annual Town Election and during my time here, I had the chance to complete many interesting projects. I worked on vital record data entry, duplicate voter information, designing the bulletin board outside the office, organizing and labeling files, and looking through old records to detail a history of the Selectmen of Chelmsford.
In school, I am Vice President of Student Council, a member of the Drama Guild, a school ambassador, a member of campus ministry, and a member of the tennis team. Outside of school, I also enjoy martial arts. My favorite subject is psychology, which I hope to major in at college.
I am grateful that I was able to be a part of such an amazing program. Not only did I learn the ins and outs of local government and strengthen my interest in political science, but I was able to do so in a fun, friendly, and supportive environment. I am so thankful for my time at the Clerk’s Office!
