Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Event Registration

Any organized group with 25 or more participants planning to conduct events on the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail must fill out and submit an Event Registration Form and submit it 90 days in advance of the event and according to the instructions on the form.

All registration forms should be submitted electronically via the registration form link. Please do not mail or bring printed applications to the Town Hall. Electronic registration automatically informs officials in all towns along Phase I of the trail of the event and will place notice of the event on the Friends of the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Event Calendar.

Groups desiring to use the Byam School grounds to stage a trail event must also fill out and submit a "Use of Facilities Application" following instructions on the Facilities Rentals page on the Chelmsford Public Schools website at http://www.chelmsford.k12.ma.us . Additional information is available on the registration form.

Chelmsford Rail Trail Light Maintenance Crew

The Chelmsford Trail Light Maintenance Crew is in the process of being rejuvenated. The trail section breakdown has been revised based on access points and to eliminate isolated and hard to define sections. New and past volunteers should contact Bob Schneider at trail@setdata.com or by phone at 978-256-1588 to indicate interest in volunteering to cover a section either between the Rt. 3 terminus and Chelmsford Center or between Chelmsford Center and the Westford Town line. Your interest in helping with this important task is greatly appreciated.

The BPAC makes recommendations to the town about projects to be funded from that account. Donations can be made payable to "Town of Chelmsford", with "Bike /Pedestrian Improvements" written on the memo line. Please send your donations to the Town Manager's Office at:

Bike Rack Recommendations

The Bike Rack Recommendation documents highlight the BPAC recommendations for design of any bicycle parking facilities (bike racks) that will be installed by the town. The Historic District Commission prefers the hitching post style (shown as Figures 7 or 8 in the document), in the same color green that has been used for the light poles and traffic signals, for use in Chelmsford Center or the historic district.
