Duties & Responsibilities
The Highway Division is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of all public streets, manholes, street signs, traffic markings (lines / crosswalks), traffic signs, and traffic signals on approximately 230 miles of roadway. The Highway Division mechanics are responsible for the upkeep and repair of all trucks and vehicles.
In addition, the Highway Division is responsible for all snow removal, street sweeping, and roadside mowing / cutting of brush on public streets. They assist town departments and committees as needed (Rail Trail Committee, police and fire during disasters, town clerk for elections, recycling events, and the Celebration Committee).
