Elder Services Department

The purposes of the Chelmsford Elder Services Department are:
 
To identify the total needs of elders in the community and enlist the support and participation of citizens;
To give recognition for their help and support;
To design, advocate for and implement services;
To coordinate all services offered by the department;
To keep track of state and federal legislation and programs regarding elders;
To work with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Center. Involved in numerous aspects of the Center's activities, volunteers are indeed the dynamic and cohesive force which helps to keep the Center operating efficiently. FUNDING
The present Chelmsford Senior Center, constructed by the Town at a cost of $1.8 million, opened in 1989 and is today one of the most active Senior Centers in the Commonwealth. Funding for the over thirty programs and services is provided by the Town of Chelmsford, the Friends of the Senior Center, Inc., user fees and state programs.
