The Board of Health consists of three elected officials.  Appointed personnel include the Health Director, Manager of Healthcare Services , Health Inspector and the Departmental Assistant.  

The Health Department conducts various screenings and immunization programs, tests water at beaches, checks on adherence to sanitary regulations at establishments selling food and drink, inspects all installations of sewage disposal systems, and approves design plans before building permits are issued.  

The Health Department also works on the control and management of hazardous material, enforcement of tobacco regulations and implementation of mosquito control in the town.
