Next Meeting of the Board of Selectmen May 21, 2012 pending conclusion of Town Meeting

The next regular Board Meeting is Monday, May 21, 2012 pending the dismissal of the annual Town Meeting.  Meetings generally take place every other Monday at 7:00 PM at the Town Offices located at 50 Billerica Road in Conference Room 204. All meetings must be officially posted with the Town Clerk with 48 hours notice for each meeting per State law. Please confirm the final meeting times and locations on the Town Clerk's official posting calendar as it is subject to change based on special circumstances. Actions taken at the May 7 Board of Selectmen meeting:

• Voted to approve the Town Manager's appointment of Debra Siriani as Council on Aging Director.
• Voted to approve the Town Manager's appointment of Mary Foley to the Council on Aging.
• Voted not to purchase the property at 77 Westford St., which had been offered by the prior owner's family.
• Heard a report from the Chelmsford Water District regarding operations in 2011.
• Heard reports from the Town Manager announcing a grant award from DHCD to study downtown housing options; and notice of awarding a bid to generate a Master Plan for the Varney Playground area.

  Actions taken at the March 26 Board of Selectmen meeting:

• Heard from Town Manager Cohen regarding election and voting updates.
• Presented a Proclamation recognizing March as Town of Chelmsford Scholarship month.
• Voted to approve a Common Victualer License to Alpha Pizza & Wings.
• Voted to accept three streets as presented by Town Engineer Steve Jahnle.
• Voted to accept the Town Manager's appointment of Erik Merrill as Animal Inspector.
• Voted to accept the Planning Board's appointment of Ann McGuigan to the Housing Advisory Board.
• During a joint meeting with the School Committee, appointed Ralph Hulslander as the Chelmsford representative to the Nashoba Valley Technical High School Committee.
• Conducted a Public Hearing for a Beer & Wine license for The Pizza Place; voted to approve the license.
• Voted to sign and submit a grant application to FEMA on behalf of the Williamsburg Condominium Association.
• Heard an update on the Fire Station proposal from Chief Mike Curran, Permanent Building Committee co-chair Pat Maloney, Jeff Alberti from Weston & Sampson, and Janet Slemenda from HKT Architects.
• Voted to approve the Town Manager's bid award for the roof replacement at the Alpha Road DPW facility to Corrolla Roofing.
• Voted to approve the Town Manager's bid award for Solar Net Metering Consulting Services to Bay State Consultants.
• Voted that there was no merit, and therefore no action needed in response to a complaint of an Open Meeting Law violation.
• Heard reports from the Town Manager regarding a Solarize Mass. application filed jointly with Tyngsboro and Carlisle; notification of unclaimed property, and the process to file a claim; receipt of sewer rate relief funds from the state; and report that the Community Innovation Grant submitted for enhancements to the Senior Center has not been funded.
